Miranda XX

Miranda xx, born in 1972 in Vaals in the Southern part of the Netherlands. Her breeder P.H. Van de Bergh was a dedicated thouroughbred breeder who loved having horses at the track. He bought Conny, Miranda’s mother from his friend H. Nicolaye. Mr. Nicolaye is one of those people that had a sharp eye at young talent. He imported successful retired thouroughbreds from England and France, such as Conny to compete and breed in the Netherlands. He also owened the promising stallions African Drum xx and Jolly Jinks xx which both were used multiple times on this family.

Miranda’s career started at the track. She was placed in several long distance courses and turned out to be a successful stayer. The racing and gambling industry changed late seventies leading to less price money and more expanses. Another big change is that farmers started to work more with machines and less with horses, so the old working horse needed to be rechaped into a riding horse with help of thouroughbred stallions such as Courville xx and Lucky Boy xx. That’s when another remarkable personality comes into the picture, Mr. Harm Brunsting. Again someone that could find special horses, such as Morgenster the mother of Sinaeda. He was curious about breeding the other way around, starting with a thouroughbred mare, Miranda xx.

He only used Holsteiner stalions for her resulting in the Grand Prix jumpers Souvenir (v. Notabel), Uletto (v. Rigoletto). Then Miranda xx was sold to the young couple Johan and Jos Hiemstra who boarded her at a local riding school. At this facility there was a young stallion that was trained for the stallion competition, his name was Nimmerdor. This resulted in my mare Zomerfee, ahead of her time competing 1.40 classes. Her last born is Aiglon by Ronald, he competed 1.50 classes with Renata Fuchs, nowdays this would mean Miranda xx would be a “prestatie” mare.  Unfortunately she, because she is a thourougbred, she is seen as foreign eventhough the success of her progeny is subscribed to the KWPN. For me she is the founding jumping mare of this breech of thourougbred family 5-h.
